AVS &
Design Anthology

Design, prototyping, validation, manufacturing, and assembly

Established supply chains, conducted cost modeling, and devised an executable manufacturing strategy

Ergonomic and highly usable Minimum Viable Product (MVP) prototype

The Brief

The objective of this project was to establish a joint venture between Design Anthology and AVS for the design, prototyping, validation, manufacturing, and assembly of EOS Military Grade Remote Weapons Station Grips. This partnership was prompted by the imposition of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restrictions on the existing supply of RWS grips for simulation and real world applications, creating a strategic opportunity in the market.

Challenges & Opportunities

  • Manufacturing optimisation and performance without the complexity and high costs of manufacturing while retaining ease of manufacture, assembly functional performance, ergonomics, durability and ongoing support and maintenance
  • MIL Standards compliance
  • Supply chain complexities and limited availability of hardware in Australia
  • Complexity of overall form factor, design complexity, limited space, ingress protection, ergonomics and design for manufacture

The Results

  • Developed to high-quality standards and optimised for sovereign manufacturing, assembly, support, and maintenance, while meeting MIL standards and testing requirements, all within a 6-week development timeframe
  • The ergonomic and highly usable Minimum Viable Product (MVP) prototype impressed the customer and served as a powerful demonstration of our capabilities. This success facilitated negotiations with senior management, opening doors to explore future opportunities
  • Additionally, we established supply chains, conducted cost modeling, and devised an executable manufacturing strategy covering prototyping, certification, mass production, and deployment, ensuring clarity and alignment among all key stakeholders.
