Scalable CPR Training Device
Transformational Solutions

Design Anthology helped transform an early CPR training concept into a tested, pre-production-ready flat-pack product platform designed for scale.
We developed a compact CPR training device with adult and child modes that reduced manufacturing complexity, freight volume and storage requirements through packaging-led design and simplified mechanics.
The result is a more accessible and commercially scalable CPR training solution designed to support easier deployment across workplaces, regional areas and remote locations.

The Brief
The client approached Design Anthology with an opportunity to rethink traditional CPR training equipment. Existing manikins can be bulky, expensive to transport and difficult to deploy across large organisations, regional areas and remote locations, creating barriers to consistent CPR training and compliance.
The brief was to develop a compact, scalable alternative that could reduce logistics complexity without compromising training functionality. The product also needed to support easier manufacturing, storage and distribution while creating a clearer pathway toward commercial production.
Design Anthology was engaged to help shape the product strategy, develop the mechanical concept, prototype the solution and prepare the platform for pre-production and future scale.
Challenges & Opportunities
Traditional CPR training manikins are often bulky, costly to transport and difficult to manage across multiple locations. This created an opportunity to rethink the product from the ground up as a lightweight, flat-pack system designed for easier deployment and broader accessibility.
The challenge was developing a compact product that could still deliver realistic CPR compression feedback without relying on heavy materials or complex mechanics. The solution also needed to support scalable manufacturing, simpler storage and practical day-to-day use.
The Results
Design Anthology developed a compact modular CPR training platform where the product structure, packaging and mechanical response were designed to work together as one integrated system. The approach focused on reducing the size, weight and complexity typically associated with traditional CPR training equipment.
The concept uses a custom core flute spring system to replicate CPR compression requirements without relying on heavy materials or complicated internal components. This created a lightweight solution that remained practical to manufacture, transport and deploy at scale.
The platform also incorporates switchable adult and child training modes within a single product, increasing versatility while simplifying storage and distribution. By combining multiple training functions into one compact format, the product delivers greater operational efficiency for organisations and training providers.
By designing around shipping, storage, manufacturing and CPR training requirements from the outset, Design Anthology helped create a clearer pathway from early concept through to a commercially scalable, launch-ready product.
